John Victor Bartuska

He was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on July 15, 1928. John served in the Army during the Korean War and was a graduate of the University of Nebraska with a degree in business administration. He moved to southern California after college and began his 38 year career in the oil and gas industry with Shell Oil Company relocating to Wyckoff, New Jersey and Houston, Texas in the early 1970's where he retired in 1989.

He had a passion for his beloved pelicans as well as gardening, puzzles, travel, reading, coin collection, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years Gail Sophia Jorgenson Bartuska.

He is survived by his 3 children Leslie Bartuska Hume (spouse Steve), Jack Bartuska and Thomas Bartuska; 5 grandchildren Matthew Hume (spouse Ashley), Brett Hume (spouse Alyssa), Jacob Hume, Kaitlin Bartuska Gibbs (spouse Joseph) and Christopher Bartuska; 5 great grandchildren Dorian Hume, Charles Hume, Hadley Hume, Joseph Gibbs Jr. and Matthew Gibbs; his sisters Margie Thiel and Jean Tuffield as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A private committal service for John will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060 followed by a memorial reception.
