John Joseph Counts, 85, of Houston, Texas passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, July 27, 2020. He was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on February 9, 1935 to Joseph and Grace Counts. Jack, as he was affectionately nicknamed, met his first wife Laura Beth at a young age. From their sixty-two year marriage they raised three children, John “Jay”, Janet and Paul.
Over the years, Jack logged numerous miles working in the freight business from 1954-1980. In 1981, he realized a long-time dream of opening his own delivery business and started Alco Delivery. The business kept him busy until his retirement in 2012.
When not working, Jack traveled extensively and enjoyed sharing that passion for travelling with his family. Above all else, Jack was a godly man and felt the calling to share his faith with others through his many years as a pastor.
Jack was greeted in heaven by his wife Laura Beth Counts, son John “Jay” Counts, one grandchild, three great-grandchildren and his parents.
Left to carry on his legacy are his daughter Janet and husband Chris Domec, son Paul and wife Karen Counts; nine grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Jack also leaves behind his wife of three wonderful years, Reba Counts. Jack gained a bonus family when he and Reba fell in love. Reba’s six sons, two daughters, twenty eight grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren will also feel his absence.
Please leave online messages of comfort and condolences for the family below.
“And the God of all grace,
Who called you to his
Eternal glory in Christ.
After you have suffered
A little while, will himself
Restore you and make
You strong, firm and
steadfast”
