John "Jack" Joseph Counts
February 9, 1935 – July 27, 2020
John Joseph Counts, 85, of Houston, Texas passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, July 27, 2020. He was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on February 9, 1935 to Joseph and Grace Counts. Jack, as he was affectionately nicknamed, met his first wife Laura Beth at a young age. From their sixty-two year marriage they raised three children, John “Jay”, Janet and Paul.
Over the years, Jack logged numerous miles working in the freight business from 1954-1980. In 1981, he realized a long-time dream of opening his own delivery business and started Alco Delivery. The business kept him busy until his retirement in 2012.
When not working, Jack traveled extensively and enjoyed sharing that passion for travelling with his family. Above all else, Jack was a godly man and felt the calling to share his faith with others through his many years as a pastor.
Jack was greeted in heaven by his wife Laura Beth Counts, son John “Jay” Counts, one grandchild, three great-grandchildren and his parents.
Left to carry on his legacy are his daughter Janet and husband Chris Domec, son Paul and wife Karen Counts; nine grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Jack also leaves behind his wife of three wonderful years, Reba Counts. Jack gained a bonus family when he and Reba fell in love. Reba’s six sons, two daughters, twenty eight grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren will also feel his absence.
Please leave online messages of comfort and condolences for the family below.

I had the distinct honor and privilege to be a part of Jack’s life as his financial advisor for over 7 years. Through my friendship with Jack I met his two children Paul and Janet, their spouses Karen and Chris, his grandson Chad and his new friend, love and spouse Reba. He insisted I meet them all so they would know what we had planned, and to make sure his prudent legacy was always in place. He so reminded me of my dad that I lost right about the time we met, so Jack always held a special place in my heart. I can say without any doubt he will be sorely missed and his legacy was fulfilled. The late remarkable evangelist Billy Graham talked about our passing this way: “Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.” He is in the presence of God now. I believe Jack and Billy will have some great conversations into eternity. May God comfort and bless the Counts family as they remember Jack as the great man he was.

Thanks Mr C for all you’ve done for me. Words alone can’t express how much I appreciate the life lessons I learned from you over the years and how much your family means to me. You will truly be missed by many but your Love and Legacy will surely carryon. Love You Mr C

Mr.Counts was a towering man to me and I have known him since high school. As Janet and I came home (hers) after a party one night, we thought we would sneak in only to turn around in the dark and smell coffee and see both of her parents sitting there looking at us from their chairs. It wasn't funny then, but it's brought laughter to me many times over the years. He was a big teddy bear and I am sure will be missed by many. God speed Mr. C.
