

John Munoz Gomez a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2014 after a long and courageous battle from complications due to congestive heart failure. John was born on May 11, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to Hilario and Dolores Munoz Gomez who predeceased him early in his life. He was later preceded in death by his siblings Frank Gomez of Chicago and Rosa Gomez Lopez of Los Angeles, In 1991 he was preceded in death by his only son Larry Gomez a loss he never quite recovered from and in 1999 he was preceded in death by his loving step-daughter Rosalie Senteno. His survivors include his, loving and devoted wife of 71 years Eloisa Charles Gomez, his devoted daughter and caretaker Genevie Martinez and husband Ismael Martinez Jr. His loving daughter in law Glenda Gomez and his grandson Urban Gomez of Sinton, Texas. He will be greatly missed by his loving grandchildren, April Martinez(Nathan), Maricella Gatica (Jacob), Alfredo Senteno, Sylvia DeLa Cruz, Debbie Gonzalez, also Lisa and Lucinda. His many great grandchildren and great grandson Judah Hernandez who would light up his day His brothers, Salvador Gomez (Elvira) of Tomball, Texas and Jose Gomez of San Jose, Ca. His loving sister in law, Oralia Velasquez and family of Houston. His numerous nephews and nieces from the Los Angeles area and Tomball, Texas.John will also be missed by the many friends he came to know at Trinity Lutheran Church and School from where be retired after 30 years of dedicated service. He will also be missed by the many friends he and Eloisa befriended at their home church St. Joseph Cathoic Church while serving as volunteers in Social Ministry.The family wishes to thank his devoted caretakers who lovingly cared for-him-during his final journey, Bertha Hernandez, Trini Candanoza, Angelica Maldonado and Mr. & Mrs Daniel Martinez we will be eternally grateful. As well as to Rachel Hernandez who over the years had become like a second daughter to John.Visitation will be 5-8pm, with a rosary at 7pm, Sunday, April 13, 2014 in the Chapel of Angels at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. A funeral procession will leave at 12:15pm for 1pm Mass on Monday, April 14, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, followed by burial in the Historic Hollywood Cemetery.
