John Simeon Gordon left for his heavenly home on May 9, 2021, at the age of 83 with his devoted wife of 38 years, Diane, at his side. John was born on April 1,1938, in Oxford, North Carolina. After graduating from New Hanover High School, he served four years in the United States Air Force. John was a true patriot who loved this country and everything it stands for. John moved to Texas in the 1970s and ultimately settled in the Houston area where he worked in the construction safety industry. He was a member and Past Potentate (1989) of the Arabia Shrine Center, and proudly served as Master of Anahuac Masonic Lodge #995 in 2015.
John never met a stranger. His outgoing personality and sense of humor were on full display during his many years as a Shrine Clown, "Jingles". He loved entertaining children at the Shrine Circus and during visits to the Shrine Hospitals.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Diane, his daughter, Patricia Star Gordon, his sisters Frances George of Indianapolis and Jeanette (husband Billy) Ramsey of Wilmington, North Carolina, his great nephew, Michael Rice and his wife, Danielle, one great-great niece and one great-great nephew, his sisters-in-law, Robbie Murphy and Judy McCoy, his many friends, and his trusty sidekick, Blue, the family dachshund!
A service will be held at the Houston National Cemetery on Saturday the 29th at 9:30am .
