John was born to Celestino and Maria Reyes, on July 25,1952, in Houston, Texas. John graduated from Austin High School in 1970. He married Jeannette in 1978, and they lived together in Houston. Together they raised 3 children. John remarried and had 2 more children. He has 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Celestino and mother, Maria, in addition to his brothers Jimmy and Celestino II.
John was very proud of his military service in the marine core for 4 years. He followed his father, brother and several uncles and cousins who were also marines.
John worked as an assistant manager for several food chain stores including Rice and Kroger for over 20 years.
John was an avid reader and enjoyed reading history books, and anything having to do with the military. He loved going to the movies and enjoyed war movies in addition to psychological thriller movies. He enjoyed get togethers with family especially during the holiday season.
Visitation is scheduled for 8/14/2024 from 5-8pm and committal service is 8/15/2024 at 11am at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.
