John Charles Webster

John Charles Webster, 72, passed away on August 10, 2026 after an extended illness at his home in Willis, TX. Born November 22, 1953 in Houston, TX, John grew up in the Aldine area of North Houston. There, he was blessed to be surrounded by a large family (grandparents, aunts, uncles, many cousins) and numerous friends. He often reminisced about Sunday family dinners, cousin sleep-overs, football/baseball games, playing army and riding his beloved motorcycles.

After graduation from Aldine High School, John briefly worked as a machinist at Oil Center Tool. In August 1973, he started working for Southern Pacific Railroad and worked there until he was forced to take disability due to kidney disease and, ultimately, a kidney transplant in 2001. John loved working for the railroad. He was a mainline conductor working on freight trains between Houston and Lufkin, Shreveport or Lafayette. Although he actively worked 28 years with SPRR and (eventually bought out by) UPRR; he longed to return to the railroad as he genuinely enjoyed it.

John also loved being outdoors – the beach, hunting, fishing, even mowing grass! Each year, for many years, he truly looked forward to the annual Dove Hunt in Uvalde. Many cousins and friends gathered for the weekend to hunt doves, eat (& drink) at Lunkers, Mexican food for breakfast and probably tell some tall tales – he loved it! He also loved to deer hunt and fish – bay or freshwater – he would even go offshore but he always got seasick! Regardless of the outcome – didn’t get any dove or a deer or catch any fish – it still spoke to the quiet satisfaction of time well spent according to him.

His other passion was decorating the yard for Halloween and Christmas. (Similar to Clark Griswald!) He likewise loved the house to be full of decorations, too. Every space covered with something that lite up or blinked.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Webster, Sr.; mother, Evelyn N. Webster; and brother, Robert A. Webster, Jr. Survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sharon S. Webster; beloved sons – Brian D. Webster (Megan) and Brandon A. Webster (Andrea); cherished grandchildren – Taylor (Malayna), Tristan, Beau, Karsyn, Cooper and great-grandson, Colyer, bonus grand – Olievea. Brother-in-law – Stuart D. Stanford (Barbara). Sister-in-law, Gena C. Stanford. Nieces – Natalie, Cory, Jennifer, Rachel; Nephews – Jared & Dustin and their families. Also, many beloved cousins, special friends.

We take heart in knowing that John is no longer laying flat in a hospital bed; no more repeated hospital stays with many vein sticks; no more crying out in pain just from trying to move him or touch his fragile skin. We find comfort in knowing that he believed in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and is now at peace in His presence. Upon passing – he instantly gained perfect health and sensed jubilant happiness to be with the Lord and family and friends who had gone before him. However, as we grieve his loss, we hold tightly to God’s promise that we will see him again.

John leaves behind countless memories that fills our hearts with joy and leaves us smiling. He was a wonderful husband, father, papa, son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend to many. He will be remembered with abiding love by all who had the opportunity to know him.
