She is preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Price and mother, Jeffie Walker. Johnnie leaves to cherish her memory: husband of 65 years, John; son, Tim and his wife Joan, son, Jeff and his wife Karen; granddaughter, Jennifer Kirby; grandsons: John & wife Bailey, Adam Kirby & wife Jessica, Jason Kirby & wife Saeideh; great grandchildren: Addison, Jack, Kimiya; sisters: Janice McQuaid and Patsy Bradshaw.
Johnnie was a native Houstonian. She and John met in the eighth grade at Deady Jr High and later attended Milby High School where she graduated with highest honors in 1955. She married John in 1956. Johnnie was a loving wife and mother who took great joy in caring for John and her sons. Although most of her life was spent doing that, she also excelled in many skills outside of the home. When she found it necessary to return to the world of work outside the home she excelled in all of her endeavors. She loved doing Crossword and Sudoku puzzles. She was a woman of great intellect and a voracious reader. She returned to school at the age of 50 and became a nurse . In that roll she showed her remarkable care for her patients, especially the elderly, and was loved by all she cared for. The final ten years of her life were spent in severe pain from a rare autoimmune disease. We want to thank all of the doctors and nurses that cared for her, especially those of the ALTA Hospice group.
A visitation for Johnnie will be held Monday, February 21, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
