Jose Luis Espino, affectionately known as "Guicho," was born on August 9, 1966, to Guadalupe Mata Espino and Dr. Luis Hernandez. On June 24, 2026, he peacefully entered eternal rest, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love.
Jose graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Computer Engineering Technology. He dedicated 18 years of service to The Lancaster Hotel, where his strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail earned the respect of those around him.
To know Jose was to know someone who could build, repair, and figure out almost anything. He was naturally gifted with his hands and possessed an endless curiosity. If he didn't already know how to do something, he would read, research, and teach himself until he mastered it. Whether it was plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, mechanics, or home repairs, there seemed to be no challenge too great for him. Family and friends knew that if something was broken, all they had to do was "Ask Guicho."
His greatest joy, however, was never the projects—it was the people he was doing them for. Jose loved spending time with his family. He had a wonderfully dry sense of humor and a personality that could make everyone laugh. He was known for complaining the entire time he was helping someone, yet no matter how much he grumbled, he always showed up. His love was demonstrated through acts of service, quiet sacrifice, and unwavering reliability.
Jose leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his beloved mother, Guadalupe Espino; his daughter, Abby Espino; his stepson, Kike; his siblings, Iridiana Hernandez, Manuel Hernandez, and Luisa Pavelities (Joseph); along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.
Jose will be remembered for his remarkable wealth of knowledge, generous heart, and willingness to help anyone in need. There was rarely a question he couldn't answer or a problem he couldn't solve.
He worked tirelessly throughout his life, always putting others before himself. Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in knowing that his work is finished, and his body has finally found the rest it so faithfully earned.
His hands may now be still, but the countless lives he touched will forever bear the mark of his love.
A Tribute from His Mother
My beloved son,
When I think of you, I smile through my tears as I remember all the wonderful adventures we shared. From traveling through Germany to exploring countless cities across Mexico, every journey became a treasured memory because we were together.
I often think about the day we had a flat tire overlooking a steep cliff. Without hesitation, you climbed out, surrounded by snakes, and calmly changed the tire as if nothing could stop you. That was who you were—brave, capable, and always determined to take care of the people you loved.
Thank you for every laugh, every conversation, every mile we traveled together, and every memory you've left in my heart. I miss you more than words can ever express, but I thank Yahweh for allowing me the privilege of being your mother.
Until we meet again, my son, you will forever be loved.
A Tribute from His Siblings
Our dear brother,
There are no words that can truly express how much we miss you. You were our protector, our teacher, our problem solver, and our friend.
You carried more than we ever realized, often hiding your pain behind your smile and your jokes. We wish we could have carried more of that burden with you.
Although our hearts are broken, we find peace knowing you are no longer suffering. We hold tightly to the promise that this goodbye is not forever. Until the day Yahweh calls us home and we meet again, we will carry your memory with us in everything we do.
Rest peacefully, dear brother. You are deeply loved and will be forever missed.
A Tribute from His Nieces and Nephews
To us, you were so much more than an uncle.
You were our advisor, teacher, handyman, electrician, plumber, carpenter, mechanic, and the family expert on just about everything. Whenever something needed fixing, Mom's first words were always, "Call Guicho."
Some of our favorite conversations began with, "What does Mom have you working on now?" There was always another project, another repair, another person you were helping.
We'll never forget your sense of humor. You could spend hours stripping copper wire and joking that it was your "drinking money," or casually say, "See you Tuesday—I'm off to Mexico," as if it were the most ordinary thing in the world. Those little sayings became part of who you were, and now they'll become stories we'll tell for generations.
Thank you for teaching us that hard work is an act of love. Thank you for always answering the phone, always showing up, and always giving your best, even when you pretended you didn't want to.
The things you built may one day wear out, but the love you built into this family never will.
We love you, Uncle Guicho.

Though he is no longer with us physically, his legacy lives on in every life he touched.
