Raised in Corpus Christi and spending most of his life in Houston, Texas, Joe built a life rooted in steady work, lasting relationships, and the everyday joys that bring people together.
A welder by trade, Joe devoted more than 30 years to his industry.
Joe is survived by his wife, Kathleen Gaytan; daughter, Linda Arriazola; and step-daughter, Elvia Barrera. He is also survived by his grandsons, Louis, Angelo and Matthew Arriazola; his sisters, Mary Lou Lozano, Alma Joyce Gaytan and Mandy Chlamon; and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen Koepke, Fred Koepke, Ken and Mavis Koepke. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, along with numerous other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lidia Gaytan; his brothers, Arthur, Robert, Larry and Raymond Gaytan; his sister, Elda Vasquez; and his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Koepke.
In his personal time, Joe found genuine pleasure in the simple, familiar pursuits he loved most—an avid pool player who appreciated the patience and precision of the game, and a fisherman drawn especially to salt water. Above all, Joe will be remembered for the warmth of his humor—for the way he enjoyed joking, laughing, and sharing a moment of lightness with those around him.
Visitation with the family will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road, Houston, TX 77055. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
