Jose Luis Montantes Sr.

He was born on June 25, 1945 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Gerarda Urbina and Nicolas Montantes.

For many years, he worked as a self employed tile setter. He was a member of Cypress Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and former parishioner of Holy Name Catholic Church. He enjoyed watching western and kung fu movies as well as listening to musica regional mexican. He was very social and loved dancing.

He is survived by his sister Gloria Montantes- Garcia and Ramon Flores. His children Linda Isabel Montantes, Norma Delia Garcia, Maria Delcarmen Hernandez, and Jose Luis Montantes, Jr. His son-in-law's Antonio Garcia and Jesus Hernandez. His eight (8) grandchildren Amanda Rodriguez, Jessica Chapa, Joshua Poe-Garcia, Elijah Poe- Garcia, Tabitha Poe-Garcia, Nicolas Hernandez, Nathaniel Montantes, and Issac Garcia. His two (2) great-grandchildren Phoebe Juarez and Baby Quintanilla.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 1pm with a Visitation starting at 11AM. Interment will follow the Funeral Service at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery
