

Jose “Joe” A. Ramirez went to be with the Lord December 1st, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Bertram, TX August 24, 1929 to Felicitas Garza and Jose L. Ramirez. He is preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe Ramirez and son Edward A. Mendoza. He is survived by children Joseph, Patricia, and Michael; his grandchildren, Cynthia Hanlon and her husband Richard, Edward Mendoza and his wife Irma, Joseph B. Ramirez and his wife Jacki, Daniel Ramirez, Elena Ramirez, Mark Ramirez; and five great grandchildren Celeste Fiser, Alyse Maxwell, Joseph Andrew and Jacob Carter Ramirez and Lauryn Mendoza; his brother and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews, countless friends and acquaintances. He was in the Army and served in the Korean War, and shortly thereafter returned to service as a merchant marine until he retired from the sea in 1966. He then went to work as an auto mechanic and transitioned to industrial equipment at Mustang Industrial. He spent his retirement as a big part of the local community, helping out at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary alongside his wife Lupe. He also enjoyed fishing as well as spending time with his family. He was a man of few words, but one of great actions. He will be missed.
The visitation will be at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Tuesday the 8th from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday the 9th at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 6723 Reed Road, Houston, Texas, with graveside services to be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetery.
