July 2, 1931 – August 3, 2025
Lila "Joyce" Desoto, born in Fountain Hill, Arkansas, on July 2, 1931, passed away peacefully in Spring, Texas, on August 3, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Robert "Bud" Desoto, with whom she shared 61 years of love and devotion.
Joyce was a loving and devoted mother to Glenda Thornhill and Lynn Desoto, grandmother to Lisa Petillon and husband Marc, Jeff Paris and wife Miledy, and Jason Thornhill, great-grandmother to Brandon Petillon and wife Samantha, and Valerie Paris, and great-great-grandmother to Leo Petillon. She was the heart and soul of her family — the matriarch whose strength, compassion, and unwavering support shaped generations. Her love for her family was limitless, and she will be remembered for always being there with open arms and a helping hand.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ottis and Annie Pearl Stanley; her husband, Robert "Bud" Desoto; and her siblings, Jolene, Jerry Lee, Billy Mack, and Shirley Mae.
Joyce worked at Pilgrim's Cleaners for 33 years, where her dedication and work ethic were admired by all who knew her. Outside of work, she had a passion for shopping — especially at Macy’s — and was known for her impeccable style. She loved anything with bling and had a pair of shoes for every outfit, always dressed with elegance and flair.
Her presence brought joy, and her absence leaves a profound void. Joyce will be missed beyond measure, but her legacy of love, strength, and sparkle will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 14, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Earthman Resthaven, located at 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
