Joyce was born on November 19, 1937 in Washington, Texas to Arnold Henry Roese and Ivena Christina Petersen. She married Marion Leon Walkoviak in 1957 and celebrated her 59th wedding anniversary in 2016. The central theme of her life was one of family and her giving nature. She was the true matriarch of her family and took care of many of her family members, from her brothers and sisters, daughters and son, daughter in law and son in law, to her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, taking many of them into her home for as long as was needed. Keeping the family close was extremely important to her, and she made sure to plan get togethers for every holiday. Her favorite was Christmas, and she loved filling the house with gifts for all of her family.
A viewing is scheduled for July 5, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00pm. Her funeral is scheduled for July 6, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Martha’s Catholic Church on Woodridge Parkway, in Porter, Texas. There will be a reception to follow at The Potato Patch; meal prices are between $8-16. Rev. Msgr. Chester L. Borski will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joyce’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Villiage Learning and Achievement Center at http://villagelac.org/, where Joyce’s daughter Jennifer attends. The family would like to thank Regent Care Center and daughter Karen Wells for their care and dedication to Joyce over the last 8 years.
