Joycelyn Ruth Donah, 92, passed away peacefully among family on January 10, 2024. She was born August 31, 1931, in Dallas,Texas to Felix Edward Hodges and Mattie Lois Hodges. Joycelyn graduated from Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth and received a Masters Degree in Education from Prairieview A&M. She was married several times but maintained that the love of her life was Walter Holzmann, the father of her only child. Joycelyn had a long career teaching at elementary schools in Borger, Waco, San Antonio, Wharton and El Campo. She was a member of Texas State Teachers Association, Baptist churches in various cities and was active in senior citizen clubs in North Carolina and Houston. She volunteered as a tutor in the Spring School District, a hospital in North Carolina and at the historical museum in Spring. Joycelyn’s main passion was for her family. Other favorite things were music, reading (historical romances) and playing games, especially ‘42’ Dominoes. Her favorite movie was Sound of Music and she watched it every chance she got. Her favorite singers were Perry Como and Mario Lanzo. She loved to have fun and play pranks on friends and family. She is survived by her daughter Carol Storer and son-in-law Daniel Storer, granddaughters Cheryl Samaniego and her husband Gus, Crystal Goins and her husband Alex , great grandsons Noah Samaniego and Benjamin Goins and sister Carol Bright and husband James. She is preceeded in death by parents and one brother, Malcolm Hodges. Rememberance will be held at 10:00 am on January 22, 2024 at Earthman Resthaven with burial following in Forest Park in the Woodlands.
