With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Juanita Casas on July 30, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 73. She was born on November 13, 1951, to Aberaldo Perez and Ofelia Perez. Juanita was a kind and caring soul, a devoted wife, and an exceptional mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Jose I. Casas Jr.; her children, Susie Valdez, Joey Casas, and Rene Casas; her daughter-in-law, Meranda; her grandchildren, Joshua, Cessily, Julian, and Cris; her bonus grandchildren, Jasmin and Gabriel; and her great-grandchildren, Damian and Jayden. She also leaves behind five sisters and two brothers, along with countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Aberaldo Perez and Ofelia Perez, and two brothers.
A lifelong advocate for her community, Juanita dedicated many years of service working with community centers such as the YWCA and the Ripley House in Magnolia. She also worked with United Way and spent countless hours volunteering, always driven by a deep desire to help others. Many will remember her for her wonderful sense of humor, though she rarely laughed at her own jokes.
While her voice is now quiet, her presence will never fade. It lives in the hearts of her family, in the lessons she taught, and in the love, she gave so freely.
