Janie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raul Colunga; her daughter, Freda Ann Chavez; and her great-great-grandson, Peace Hendrix Groves.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Gloria (John) Derrington, Benny (Rosanne) Colunga, and Sandra (Daniel) Bruffy; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons. She also leaves behind her cherished niece, Mary Donahue, and family.
Viewing and funeral services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home located at 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023. Viewing will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, open to friends and the community from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 2, from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM.
