Judith Faye Latimer Trousdale passed away June 20, 2021 in Houston, Texas. Judy was the 2nd child and only daughter of James K. Latimer and Rose Lee Stein Latimer. She was born December 6, 1941 in Colorado City, Texas, and spent her youth in Marlin, Texas. In 1956, the family moved to Houston where her parents built a convenience store in Spring Branch. Judy graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1959. After graduating from Baylor University in 1963, Judy taught at Memorial High School and Spring Woods High School. She married Melvin Trousdale in 1964, and the couple moved to Washington D.C. The couple later relocated to San Antonio where their only daughter, Pamela, was born. In 1978 Melvin and Judy divorced. Judy and Pamela returned to Houston, where she lived for the remainder of her life. While she had many interesting jobs over her career, she considered herself an educator first and foremost.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents as well as her brothers, James K. Latimer, Jr. and Charles Ray Latimer. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela and husband Gary, and grand-daughters Emily and Rachael. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Darleen Latimer (James K.), nieces Debi Latimer and her children, and Cindy Damman (Ivo) and their children. The family is grateful to the caregivers who helped Judy on daily basis as she bravely fought the debilitating effects of Parkinson’s disease.
Judy was a true force of nature. She was a strong, intelligent woman who knew what she wanted. She never hesitated to speak her mind. She played the piano flawlessly and had a wonderful singing voice. She was an outstanding cook and loved to entertain. She was a lover of cats and had a laugh that could brighten any room.
To honor Judy’s life, a private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to The Parkinson’s Foundation for continued Parkinson’s research.
