Judith Rae Kern passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2023. She was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, and worked as a Registered Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton before she married her husband in 1958. Together they had three children, raising them in Houston, Texas. Judith remained happily married for 28 years until her husband's sudden death in 1986. She went back to work as a nurse in the recovery room at Spring Branch Memorial Hospital, where she stayed for 35 years, making many friends and lasting memories. Her hobby was collecting stray cats and giving them a happy home. She is very much missed by everyone.
Judith is preceded in death by her parents, Esther Pauline Good and William Edward LaPorte, and her husband, George Thomas Kern. She is survived by her children, Thomas Mark Kern, Lisa Joy (James "Rusty") Miner, and David Matthew (Sylvia) Kern.
Family and friends gathered during a visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22 at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where a Celebration of Life service began at 11:00 a.m.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc in Houston. The Rite of Committal followed at 12:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Garden of Memories.
