Judy was a kind and compassionate woman who shared her faith boldly. She actively participated in many church activities throughout her earthly life. Judy was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. When she moved to Cypress, Texas, Judy became involved with and worshipped at St. John Lutheran Church. She was a proud Luther Women's Missionary League (LWML) member and often held officer positions. Judy also felt a calling to participate in Stephen Ministries and developed special friendships through her training and services. In addition, Judy participated in groups outside of her church, including Red Hats and senior travel groups.
Judy's educational journey included attending Concordia Lutheran College in Austin and Concordia College River Forest in Illinois, where she obtained her teaching degree. She then attended the University of Texas at Austin and received her master's degree.
Judy was passionate about teaching and dedicated over 20 years of her life to educating others. She taught math and special education in Plano ISD and Aldine ISD, leaving an impact on her students. Just as Judy did through her active life in her faith, she also produced lasting friendships with coworkers in her teaching career.
Judy valued her family and time with her loved ones the most. She is survived by her daughter, Jarene Schroeder, and her husband, Wayne; her son, Keith Murray; her granddaughter, Lauren Weth and husband Brian; her grandson, Tyler Schroeder and girlfriend Isabella Pokelwaldt; her granddaughter, Alexis Murray; her great-granddaughters Kate and Kylee Weth; and her brother, Rodney Holm; along with treasured sister-in-laws Patsy Holm and Marsha Holm; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Byron K. Murray, her parents (Clarence and Mary Frances Holm), sister Carolyn Crawford and husband James, and her brothers Ronald Holm, Gary Holm, and Glen Holm.
Judy will be remembered for her kindness, faith, and dedication to her family, church, and community. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Contributions in Judy's memory can be made to St. John Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), two organizations that were very dear to her.
