June Ann Moore

In her younger years, June Ann was an avid hunter who enjoyed spending time outdoors and was never afraid to "hang with the boys." Her adventurous spirit, independence, and love of the outdoors remained a defining part of who she was throughout her life.

June Ann married the love of her life, Jerry Garland Moore, in 1980 and were together for a wonderful 39 years. They met in Odessa, TX teaching high school English but they spent the majority of their married life in Central Texas. They built a life filled with adventure, travel, and a shared passion for golf, literature and the University of Texas Longhorns. They traveled throughout the United States and around the world, enjoying many unforgettable golf destinations and creating cherished memories together.

For 30 years, June Ann dedicated her career to teaching high school English in Odessa and Austin, inspiring generations of students with her love of literature, learning, and language. She was known for her intelligence, wit, and unwavering commitment to education. June Ann loved stories – both reading and telling them – with a twinkle in her

eye, delighted her family with tales of fun and adventure until the very end.

June Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Moore; her parents, Arlene and "Shorty" Johnston; her brother, Don Johnston and her cousin Robert Chaney.

She is lovingly survived by her family members Roy Chaney, Wanda Chaney, John Chaney, Kim Chaney, Jereann Chaney, Brittany McCaleb, Will McCaleb, Corbin Chaney, Holland Horton, Ben Horton, Jay Chaney, Justin Chaney, Connor McCaleb, and Landon McCaleb, along with many extended family members, dear friends, former students, and all whose lives she touched.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Waltrip Funeral Directors. Following the services, June Ann will be laid to rest in Big Spring, Texas, beside her parents and her brother, Don Johnston.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, one of June Ann's favorite charities, in honor of her lifelong compassion and generous heart.

Ann, loved her, and treated her as their own family through all the phases of her last years with us.

June Ann will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her devotion to family and friends, her love of teaching, and the joy she found on the golf course and in traveling the world. She lived life with enthusiasm, kindness, and a wonderful sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
