Karen graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas in 1995. She also completed courses from Grand Canyon University for certification as Life Coach.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Siert Martin Blok III, and brother, S. Martin (Marty) Blok. She is survived by her son, Phillip Blok, three grandchildren, Valerie (12), Phillip (10), and Vivian (8), and her mother, Leah Denise Blok. Karen was known as Meme by her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She leaves behind many friends who will miss her kind and caring ways.
Karen was a lifelong animal lover. Her beloved little dog, Reyna, passed away in 2021. She had hoped to adopt another small pet to love. She took delight in watching the life cycle of Monarch butterflies on the milkweed plant in the front yard.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to Friends of County Pets at Harris County Pets, 612 Canino Road, Houston, TX 77076 or to a charity of your choice.
