

Katherine Dale Sawatzki, 73, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully in her home on November 7, 2025. She was born in Houston, Texas to Warren and Betty Dale on January 12,1952. Kathy lived in her home in the Heights since 1971. She attended Bellaire High School and graduated in 1970. She always excelled in math and went on to become an accounting manager, administrator and controller at different Houston firms for over 50 years. Her fondness for all types of puzzles contributed to her exceptional ability to tackle intricate accounting issues as a problem solver. As a little girl growing up, she and her family traveled to 48 of the 50 states. As an adult she continued to travel to Mexico, Switzerland, Germany and all over Europe with family and friends.
Kathy was an excellent cook, always bringing a family favorite dish to get togethers. She was famous for her delicious broccoli rice casserole and her potato salad recipe. She enjoyed spending time with her sister, brothers, nieces and nephews. Kathy was married to Mark Sawatzki, the love of her life, for more than 30 years. She and her husband Mark were avid dart players and they were both members of competitive dart teams. She was great at bowling and was involved in several bowling leagues. She loved to fish and could out-fish many others on the boat. She loved being near the water, having a place near Chocolate Bayou for many years. She was an advocate for animals and had many beloved pets throughout the years that were like family to her.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Mark Sawatzki, her mother Betty Dale, her father Warren A. Dale, her brother William Dale, and is survived by her sister Fran Bumbalough, her brother Jim Dale and wife Dana, her brother Warren Dale and wife Joan as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
