Katie Elizabeth Harrell Cargill went to her heavenly home on December 11, 2018, in the presence of her family and close friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Niles and Elizabeth Harrell, brother Allen Harrell, sister Lucille Ann McCumbers, son David Cargill, and by her very special friend Ray Koska. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Wayne Cargill, sons John Cargill and wife Sherri, Mark Cargill, and Stephen Cargill and wife Araceli and by her sister Doris Huddleston. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces, as well as many friends, including lifelong friends of the Koska and Lynch families.
Katie was born in Katy, Texas, and later moved to the Aldine Community. She graduated from Aldine High School in 1955. Her main career in life was being a wife, and mother to her four rambunctious boys. Her second career began when she became a clerk in the Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA) and subsequently retired from that position.
Katie was a member of Memorial Baptist Church for most of her life. She was a devout Christian and always served the Lord faithfully and joyfully. Katie will be remembered for her lively spirit and fun-loving nature by those who knew her well.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 22, at 10:00 am., officiated by Pastor Leslie Herron. Both services will be held at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, located on I-45 near Greens Rd. and Rankin Rd. in Houston, Texas. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
