Kay was a colorful character who lived life to the fullest. She said, “I was born to be an actress”, but a regular stage was too cramped for the many parts she played. Always dressed to the 9’s, Kay embraced the activities of the day, whatever they might be. Diligent employee, accomplished hostess, artistic decorator, drama queen with a perfect sense of comedic timing, her personality and presence lit up the room. As one friend wrote, “She was neither understated nor quiet. Let her shine for one last time.” And shine she did for all who knew her.
In addition to being a devoted animal lover and a devoted friend, Kay was one of the rare people who charted her life independently. Solitude was her travel companion on camping trips with her dogs, when fishing, and on a luxury trip to Australia. She sought out adventure wherever she was, or adventure found her! Solitude also brought her peace through prayer and daily Bible study. Faith was her guide during months of health problems. She believed in healing. May she now Rest in Peace.
Kay will be remembered lovingly by her friends at the Ambassador as well as others who have enjoyed decades long friendships with her. We all have Kay stories to tell.
In keeping with her passions and priorities, please honor Kay by petting a dog, calling a friend or family member, and/or donating to the local SPCA in her name. Embrace each new day with joy and gratitude, and stop for a moment to think, “Kay, I’m so glad I had the opportunity to know you.”
A graveside service will take place at Forest Park Lawndale on July 30, 2022 at 10 am. We ask those attending to gather in the lobby of the funeral home, which is located at 6900 Lawndale Avenue, Houston, Texas 77023.
