Keith Conrad Vaglienti had a loving heart. He was devoted to his family—both the one he was born into and the one he created with many dear friends. His kindness, along with his white hair and beard, sometimes caused children to mistake him for Santa Claus.
Born on May 31, 1962, in Houston, Texas, Keith was welcomed by his parents Anna Beth and John Vaglienti, brother Mark Vaglienti, grandparents Edith and Dominic Vaglienti and Cuma and Robert Pollard, aunt and uncle Mary Alice and James Lavender, and cousin Nancy Lavender.
Keith was educated at the Kinkaid School and Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science. He worked as a computer programmer for Al’s Formal Wear and Continental Airlines. As a child in the 1960s, Keith developed a fascination with space exploration and science fiction. This led not only to his career in computer programming, but also to a lifelong love of sci fi, fantasy, and online role-playing games. Keith’s gentle spirit touched so many colleagues and those interactions led to lifelong friendships, including the Game Night group and his role-playing group, which he shared with Robert and Leticia Lynch over many years.
A strong supporter of the Second Amendment, Keith also enjoyed collecting and shooting historic firearms. He shared this hobby with his friend John-Paul Cherry.
Keith was a devoted member of Seventh Church of Christ, Scientist, where he served as Head Usher for many years. He also helped the church keep abreast of changing technology.
We’ll always love Keith for being there for us when we needed him—usually with a batch of his famous lavender brownies. His memory will be cherished by his cousin Nancy Bryan and her husband James, as well as his family of friends, including Laura Cherry and David Comer and their entire family, of which Keith was a member for over 30 years.
A celebration of Keith’s life will be held at a later date.
