Kha Trong Nguyen passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, in Houston, TX at Methodist Hospital. Kha was born on December 8, 1921 in Ha Noi, Viet Nam to Hinh Nguyen and Vinh Nguyen. He immigrated to Maryland in 1975 and moved to Houston, Texas in 1978.
Kha went to Buoi Highschool (Thuy Khe city) in 1937-1941. He married Thuan Thi Phan in 1953. He worked at USAID (United States Agency for International Development) as a liason and advisor between the American government and the Vietnamse government (Railroad Commission). He opened a Vietnamese restaurant in Houston in 1980. He had a passion for politics and Buddhism. He was the founder of East West Oneness Foundation. He wrote and published Bodhidharma – The Wonder Exercise book in 2007 (Bo De Dat Ma – Dich chan Kinh), Tai Chi complex. He reprinted the book As It Is by Abhinyana, the monk whom he often discussed Buddhism with and admired. He also wrote numerous documents, such as Karma and Life after Death, Karma and Reincarnation, Mahayana Buddhism, The Role Of America In Today’s World, Give Peace A Chance, The Buddha Way, Chua Noi Ve Tai Sinh, Nguoi Viet Nam Xay Dung Tinh Nguoi va Keu Goi Hoa Binh, Phat Giao Triet Ly Nhan Sinh and many more. He taught Tai Chi at the Senior Center.
He was also working on a program with the United Nations to promote World Peace called "Together we can change the world from War to Peace”. He wrote a letter to Princess Kaoru Nakamaru to save humanity from extinction and the world from destruction.
Kha lived his life selflessly and generously, always thinking of others and helping out wherever he could. He was a devoted husband, a wonderful father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hinh Nguyen; Mother, Vinh Nguyen; wife, Thuan Phan; and son, Dr. Anh Nguyen. He is survived by his sister, Thien Phan and her husband Phuoc Dang Ph. D.; his sister, Huong Phan and her husband Long Tran; his sister, Bich Nguyen (adopted) and her husband Thong Nguyen; his son, Van Nguyen (adopted) and his wife Lieu Nguyen; his son, Viet Nguyen and his wife Phuong Nguyen; his daughter, Chau Nguyen and her husband Dr. Luan Truong; his daughter, Bao Nguyen and her husband Dr. Hung Nguyen; his daughter, Nga Nguyen; his grandsons, Don Nguyen, Mathew Nguyen; his granddaughter, An Truong and her husband Mark Lathom; his granddaughter, Dr. Anh Truong and her husband Dr. Celsio Gonzalez; his grandson, Dr. Van Truong; his granddaughter, Dr. Anh Nguyen; his grandsons, Minh Nguyen, James Nguyen; his granddaughter, Dr. Jennifer Le and her husband Dr. Zachary Reynolds; his grandson, Benny Tu.
