Born on February 6, 1951, in New Waverly, Texas, Larry was born to Sterling Smith and Doris Cain Shaw, both of whom preceded him in death. He was lovingly raised by his grandparents, William Cain Sr. and Willie Mae Cain, who also preceded him in death. Under their guidance and care, he was nurtured during his early years and shaped by the values instilled within their home.
He was raised alongside his siblings — Delores Shaw Bennett, Douglas Shaw, and Brenda Shaw — in a family that contributed to the experiences that shaped his life.
As an adult, Larry spent much of his life between Texas City, Texas, and Houston, Texas, where he built his life and created lasting memories. Texas remained home to him throughout his journey.
Larry had a great love for riding motorcycles and appreciated the sense of freedom found on the open road. He also enjoyed watching drag racing and classic Westerns, as well as following his favorite wrestling stars, finding entertainment in the excitement and larger-than-life personalities of the sport.
Larry was the father of Eric Clark and Roderick Cain, and stepfather to Sammie Brown. Larry was previously married to Erma Cain, and from that union welcomed his son, Roderick. Through his children, he became a proud grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was the grandfather of Demarcus Cain, Domanyque Cain, Eric Clark Jr., Madison Clark, and Evan Clark. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren — Raleigh, Anthony Jr., Ashton, and Oaklyn — who further extended his legacy.
Larry shared a special bond with his daughter-in-law, Dwana, and maintained meaningful relationships with his nephews, close and extended family members, and a host of special friends throughout the years.
In his later years, Larry shared his life with his wife, Vada Brown. Larry and Vada first met at the age of fourteen during a summer that marked the beginning of a lifelong connection. Though life took them on different paths, they ultimately reunited and spent their later years together.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Vada Brown; his sons, Eric Clark and Roderick Cain; his step-son, Sammie Brown (Meka); his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Douglas Shaw (Theresa), Delores Shaw Bennett (the late Carl Bennett), and Brenda Shaw; along with extended family and friends.
Larry’s life leaves behind memories and moments that will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
