

Larry G. Vasquez Jr. 83, was surrounded by his family when God called him home on February 9, 2016. He now sings with the angels in heaven. He was born on June 23, 1932 in Valley Junction Texas. His parents were Hilario and Herminia Garcia Vasquez. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Bertha Flores Vasquez.
Their faith was an inspiration to all who knew them. He was a graduate of Jefferson Davis High School. He served his country as an army veteran. Larry was an expert machinist and retired after 42 years from Southern Pacific Railroad (Houston). He was a trustee of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers, Lodge # 1537 (presently # 2198). He was a member of the National Association of Retired Veteran Railroad Employees #187. Larry was an Associate of the Missionary of Mercy Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity.
Larry was an athlete. He ran track, played baseball and football and he was a great boxer. He was one of the founding members of Space City Golfers Association and served as president for a term. He aced the 7th hole at Brock Golf Course. He enjoyed music, western movies, fishing, playing checkers, watching the Astros, working on his yard and spending time with his family. His beautiful tenor singing voice will truly be missed.
He is survived by his daughter Annette Delgado, her husband Antonio Jr., and their children Antonio III (Tonito) and Domenica; two sons, Larry Vasquez, his wife Stella and their children Justin, Natalie, Luciano and Reynaldo and son Joseph, his wife Corrinne and their children Joshua and Bianca; two brothers, Robert and Richard and two sisters Gloria and Lucy.
He is preceded in death by siblings Nick, Rudy, Lucio and Margaret. Larry was a beloved husband, daddy, brother, popo, tio, cousin, friend and leader of the community.
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4918 Cochran St., Houston, Texas 77009. Rite of Committal will follow at Hollywood Cemetery.
