

Larry Bruce Wiley, Sr. affectionately known as Bo Wiley, was an energetic, lively, caring and carefree, loving man who valued family and esteemed friendships. He carried himself as a stranger to no one, and all who were privileged to make his acquaintance were more likely to have met a friend. A native Houstonian, and proud product of the historic Fourth Ward community, Larry was born to Andrew Wiley, Sr. and Ruth Brown Wiley on August 21, 1952. He was the fourth child of six children who matriculated through the Houston Independent School District, graduating from the notable Abraham Lincoln High School in 1971. Following graduation, his professional pursuits led him to various genres of employment. He counseled with New Directions, worked for the NAACP and lastly with Carl Barnes Funeral Home after retirement. Larry was quite dedicated to the Carl Barnes Family. No matter the hour of night, he was always willing to be of service. Jesus Christ has been the constant love of Larry's life. He freely and passionately shared the goodness of God with others. At a young age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and continued to worship Him until God called him home. On May 1, 1988, (29 years ago) Larry Wiley united with the Appointed, Anointed, and Authorized Bishop James W.E. Dixon, II and Northwest Community Baptist Church (now known as The Community Of Faith). He was ordained as a Deacon on March 8, 1998. He served his beloved pastor and church many years in various capacities. He was in the Overcomers Ministry, sung in the Voices of Excellence Choir, ArmorBearer Ministry, Cell Group Leader, Congregation Care Team Leader, Security and Temple Troops Ministry. Deacon Wiley was a faithful and committed Tither. He will be remembered as an example a generous giver, faithful and dedicated servant to the Kingdom of God. His contributions will never be forgotten. February 13, 1997, Larry and Deloris Goodson were united in holy matrimony. Their affections for one another were honored by 20 years of marriage. Together they reared three beautiful sons. One son DeAndre preceded him in death along with his parents and brother, Andrew Wiley, Jr. Larry leaves behind many loved ones to cherish his memory, a loving wife Delois, five children: Larry Jr., Tanita, Dexter (Lakiesha), Kory (Lucia) and a special son, Tremene. Twelve grandchildren, three sisters Brenda (Pastor Coulton-deceased), Sandra (Terry), Linda (Pastor Collins), a brother, David "Sonny" Johnson, a longtime brother-friend Willis “Blue" Robertson along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
