Laura LaMuriel Bumgardner

On March 1, 2017, LaMuriel Bumgardner went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Muriel was a wonderful Christian Wife, Mother, Grandmother and friend. She was born on April 17, 1926 in Nacogdoches, TX to Doc Jefferson Lowery and Millie Adelle Harvey Lowery. Her family moved to the north side of Houston, TX when she was a young girl. Muriel married the love of her life, JB Bumgardner, on March 23, 1945. They were happily married for over 67 years until his death on July 22, 2012. Muriel’s faithful Christian witness was an inspiration to her family, friends and all who met her. She taught Sunday School, GA’s and was a leader in the Women’s ministry for many years at Baptist Temple in Houston, TX. Even into her late eighties, Muriel had a passion for teaching God’s word to a small group of women each week. She had a true servant’s heart and a tremendous love for each member of her family as demonstrated through her daily prayers and Bible study. Muriel made her home open to all and made everyone feel welcomed and loved.

Muriel is survived by her son Blake Bumgardner and his wife Patricia of Katy, TX., Diana Beason of Tomball, TX and Deborah Crow of Spring, TX along with 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James “JB” Bumgardner, her sons Emmett and Paul Bumgardner and her son-in-law Bobby Beason.

Services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30am – 11:00am.
