On the 17th day of May 1926, God graced this world with the birth of Leola Mae Othold. She was born to parents Charles and Rosa Othold at a small farm in Shiner, Texas. As she grew in stature, she also grew in love, faith and determination. Leola attended a country school through tenth grade and went on to finish high school. Upon graduation, she attended Baldwin Business College in Yoakum, Texas and then moved to Houston to seek employment. Over the years she served as a capable and productive administrative assistant, a dedicated wife and a loving mother.
Along with her success in life, Leola encountered many heartaches and difficulties along the way. Throughout these difficult times, Leola was sustained by her great faith that everything would work out for the best. This faith sustained her throughout her life, and in spite of the difficulties she faced, she found the means to thrive in this world.
Leola passed from this life at 11:00 on Sunday morning April 23, 2017 with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. Leola was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rosa Othold, her brothers Elmer and Elroy Othold, her sisters Charlene Searcy and Lorene Keck, a grandson, Clayton Janosky and an infant son, Gregory Scott Nance. She is survived by her son, Wesley Nance and her daughter, Katherine Weige along with grandchildren Gregory Taylor Nance, Raymond Janosky Jr., Kimberley Wendt, Megan Swagerty, Katherine Stapp and Kelsey Stapp.
Leola will long be remembered for her faith and kindness and for the gentle effect she had on all those around her. She was truly an instrument of God's peace.
