He is preceded in death by his only son Leonardo Hernandez Jr. (1994), his youngest grandson Nicholas H. Villarreal (2020) and his great grandson Noah Rangel (2003).
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Janie Hernandez, daughters Adela Ramos and Dianne (Andy) Thomas, grandchildren Thomas (Rina) Rangel, Laura (Juan) Cortez, Anthony (Veronica) Rangel and Michael Villarreal, his great grandchildren Yvonne, Farrah, Aaron, Lila, Aric, Nadia, Ilianna and Aiden, and great-great grandson Michael.
Leonardo was known by many names, including Elias and Leo. But Dad and Grandpa were his favorites. He was a hard working family man, a devoted husband and father. He adored his grandchildren and ensured they always had what they needed or wanted.
Leo was lighthearted, loved to laugh and have fun. He loved good music, dancing and cold beers. He was especially known for his cleverness, humor and wit. Telling jokes or turning a negative into a positive was his specialty. He always approached life with a smile on his face as if he had no bad days.
Thank you Dad/Grandpa for all of the laughs and wonderful memories that we will cherish the rest of our days.
