Leon DeLaRosa Jr,79 of Houston,Texas passed away January 12, 2021 after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born on May 7,1941 in Edna, Texas to Leonides and Zenaida DeLaRosa. Since childhood he has lived in the shadow of downtown Houston. He knew everyone in Northside and everyone knew him. Everywhere he went, whether it was to St Patrick’s Church, out for breakfast (which he loved to do), or the bus to the casinos, there was always a friend or relative nearby. When at home he enjoyed working around the house, always wanting the best yard in the neighborhood, then he would relax watching old westerns and favorite sports, football & baseball.
He was preceded in death by his wife Eva, son Leonides III, step-children: Gilbert Diaz, Patricia Ramos- Santiago, parents Leonides and Zenaida, brothers Luis, Tommy and Gabriel DeLaRosa and grandson Richard DeLaRosa.
He is survived by son Steven and wife Maria DeLaRosa(Houston,TX), daughter Victoria and husband Richard Thornton(Montgomery, IL) and daughter Eva Leonora DeLaRosa(Houston TX), step-son Jesse Diaz(Houston,TX). Grandchildren: Steve DeLaRosa Jr, Robert DeLaRosa, Tiffany DeLaRosa, Vanessa Gonzales, Richard Thornton, Matthew Thornton, Tricia Springman, Eloy DeLaRosa, Mark DeLaRosa, Angelina DeLaRosa, Brittany DeLaRosa, Estrella Isabel DeLaRosa, Gilbert Diaz JR., Erica Lynne Diaz, Miranda Renee, Balthazar James Diaz, Christopher Gomez, Stacie Gomez, Eric Ramos, Rudy Ramos, Andrea Acura, Emily Gonzalez and 42 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Gloria(Nemesio) Granados, Rosemary(David) Cisneros, Alice DeLaRosa, and brother Pete Alfaro plus numerous relatives and friends.
