

Leroy Franklin Washburn passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, July 7, 2012 after a rigorous struggle with double pneumonia. He was born November 16, 1921, near Lindale, Texas, to Leroy Francis Washburn and Aloysia Lois Ray Washburn.
During WWII, Leroy joined the army and served overseas. He met and married Rubye Linam in Memphis, Tennessee on April 5, 1946. She went home to be with Jesus on January 17, 1986. Leroy married Beverly Irish on January 3, 1993.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Beverly; son, John Washburn and wife Donna; daughters, Frances Washburn-Frysinger and husband Buzzy, and Joy Sloan and husband Ray; step-daughters, Ana Marie Blevin-Rendon and husband Larry, Kelly Gilman-Post and husband Greg, and step-sons, Jeff Pierson and wife Kathy, and Leo B. Irish and wife Alicia. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Leroy was one of the founders of Timbergrove Baptist Church where he served as deacon and church administrator. He was president of the Timbergrove Civic Club in 1977 and 1978. Leroy was active in the neighborhood civic patrol program. He retired as vice-president of Rawson & Company in1985.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012 in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Graveside immediately follows in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, Houston, Texas. Dr. Glen Ray, former pastor of TBC, will officiate.
