

Mr. Lewis Edward Jones was born on March 26, 1943 to the late Mr. Miller and Mrs. Mary Jones. Lewis was one of two children himself and his sister Mrs. Erma Jones Ligon. He grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Lincoln High School. After High school, he attended Texas Southern University where he received his Bachelor’s in Art and Master’s in Education degrees. Lewis was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 19, 1969 and received an honorable discharged from the U.S. Army. He worked as a MEDDAC during the Vietnam War. For 29 years he worked for the Texas Commission for the Blind in Houston, Texas. He was a very caring person in his job as a counselor.
Lewis accepted Christ at an early age and served as a faithful member Marsalis Avenue Church of Christ, where he sang in the church choir and was part of the Boy Scout of America. He moved to Houston Texas, where he served as a faithful member of the Church Without Walls under Pastor Ralph D. West.
June 4, 1977 Lewis Jones was united in holy matrimony to Jessie Lee Rhodes. Lewis was a phenomenal husband, a magnificent person with a big smile who was loved by all he came in contact with. His most precious joy was being a father to his four children: Eric, Elisha, Kenton, and Yvette. He also enjoyed being a bonus father to Brandon and Jamin Johnson.
Lewis leaves to cherish his memory: 2 Sons: Eric Jones, Kenton Jones. 2 Daughters: Elisha Waters, Yvette Hopkins. Bonus Sons: Brandon and Jamin Johnson. His sister Erma Jones Ligon and family, 2 Grandchildren: Robert Hopkins, Angie Hopkins. Daughter-In- Law Rian Jones and Son-In- Law Billy Waters Jr. with 14 Great- Grandchildren, all of Houston Texas and a host of many family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
