

On April 22, 2018, Lillie slipped away from this world and was reunited with family and friends who were waiting to welcome her on the other side. Lillie Charity Austin was born on January 31, 1951 in Houston, TX to the late Mrs. Tea Bertha Austin and Mr. Melvin Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Kathryn Goode, her niece Shelia Austin, her great-nephew Wade Connerly, and her Godson Marlon Evans. Lillie was the third of four children. Lillie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized on February 7, 1970 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Robert Lee Washington, Sr. While at Macedonia, Lillie served various ministries faithfully; Senior Choir Secretary, Sunday Church School, Junior Mission Vice President, Youth Department Counselor, Vacation Bible School, Advisory Committee Women’s Hour Program (Missionary Society), and Easter Program Advisor. Lillie moved her membership to The Community Of Faith in 1998 under the leadership of Bishop James W.E. Dixon, II. She was a faithful member until her death. She served on the Evangelism Team and Baptism Ministry until her health failed. She was educated in the Houston Independent School District and graduated from Jack Yates High School in 1968. After graduation, she began her professional work at Foley’s, where she served for 14 years. In 1986, she began her work at the Department of Veteran Affairs and continued until her retirement in 2012. Though Lillie did not have children of her own, she was a mother to all her nieces and nephews. Lillie leaves to cherish in her memory two sisters; Doris Austin-Pipkins and Wanda Addison. She also leaves her beloved nephews Dwight Austin (Lisa), Reginald Austin (Cassandra), James Goode (Crystal), Brandon Addison; and her darling nieces Kimberly Austin and Kenetria Bennett(Aubrey). Lillie also leaves her great-nephews Dwight Leander Austin, Tristan Poullard, Robert Revels, III, Cameron Goode, and Joshua Austin; her great-nieces Ashley Bennett (Chevy), Whitley Eldridge (Roy), Amber Poullard, Aijah Reese, and Ariana Goode. Additionally, she leaves her great-great nephew Ashton Eldridge and her great-great nieces Addison Eldridge, Autumn Bennett, and Aubree Bennett. Lillie also leaves her Godsons Steven Evans (Christina), Kenneth Evans (TaShara), and Ashton Ester. Loved by many, Lillie also leaves behind a host of family and friends.
