

Linda Lou McDonald House, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 30, 2023, at her home in Houston, Texas. Linda was born on January 10, 1939, in Paris, Texas and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at 7 years of age. She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert (Bobby) House, son David House and wife, Hali. She was predeceased by parents Jimmy and Ruth McDonald and son Jim House.
Linda graduated from Spring Branch Senior High School in 1956 and attended Sam Houston State Teachers College where she was elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Tau Beta Sigma, Kappa Delta Pi, the Bearkat Band, and graduated Alpha Chi in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Library Science. After marriage, Linda received a Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Linda was a librarian in the Spring Branch Independent School District for 27 years, retiring after 31 years in education.
In the 1960’s, Linda and Bobby started out as tent campers with a group of families from church which led to life-long fellowship and friendships. Linda was an active member of First Baptist Church Spring Branch with her husband, Bobby, working with the youth group. Later, they moved their membership to Tallowood Baptist Church. She volunteered as a docent for the Heritage Society in downtown Houston at Sam Houston Park, served on the board of the Spring Branch Senior High School Foundation, Inc and was active in the Texas Retired Teachers Association. Linda was known for her love of reading, horses, volunteering her time to various organizations, and an amazing cook. Linda was a loving Christian wife, mother, and friend to all and will be dearly missed.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road, Houston, Texas 77055. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday in the RL Waltrip Venue at Waltrip Funeral Directors. Burial will be in Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, Texas 77079. A reception will follow the burial at Waltrip Funeral Directors.
