Linda Jean Smith was born on February 21, 1945 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, Texas to Robert Gus Smith and Elizabeth Jane Harris Smith. Linda was the eldest of four daughters. Linda lived most of her 75 years in the Greater Houston Area. When the family moved to Cleveland, Texas in 1958, Linda and two of her younger sisters gave their lives to Christ and were all baptized together at Southline Baptist Church in Cleveland, Texas.
Linda attended public school in the Houston Independent School District. Afterwards, Linda worked as a cashier alongside her Mother at Weingartens Supermarket. When her Daddy got ill with cancer in 1982, Linda and her parents moved back to Cleveland, Texas. After the loss of both parents and her sister Kae, she relocated to The Woodlands area to be closer to her two remaining sisters andfamily members.
While living in The Woodlands, Linda was very active at her apartment community. Linda organized a weekly canasta group at her Apartment Complex. She never missed the bi-weekly Bingo games and was always on the front row of the weekly country band performance. For a while she was a member of a Red Hat Society Group in The Woodlands. Linda loved being a part of her Apartment Community and the friends she made there.
Linda is preceded in death by her father, Robert Gus Smith, her mother, Elizabeth Jane Harris Smith and one sister Elizabeth Kae Smith Casper.
She is survived by her sisters: Vivian Ann Smith Bailey and husband James Bailey; Jackie Lynn Smith Pullen and husband James Pullen. She is also survived by Twelve Nieces, Seventeen Nephews and numerous Cousins.
Since Linda never married and had no children of her own; she certainly did assist her sisters in the raising of Lisa, Hank, Bobby & Michele. She was their official “baby sitter” for many, many years during their influential days. It is safe to say that Linda was another Mother figure to these four. (Except unlike their mothers, there was ALWAYS a Tootsie Roll Pop in her purse for each one of them.)
