

He was born on August 11, 1925 in Brenham, Texas to Reinhold and Clara Newmann. Lonnie was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Lonnie moved to Houston after serving in World War II and the Korean War. He Married Hortense Marie Roese in 1949 and had their only child, a son, Garland William Newmann in 1953. He worked for Gaylord Container for 41 years, and after retirement worked 20 years for the Houston area sports complexes and entertainment venues. Lonnie worked until 5 months ago.
He remarried in 1969 to Martha Cymbeline Hern, who preceded him in death in 1986. Lonnie was also preceded in death by his parents, a very close brother in law, Robert Lee Kneschke and a nephew, Roger Richards. He is survived by his son, Garland William Newmann, wife Lorrie Newmann, 5 grandchildren, Joshua Newmann, Lukas Newmann, their mother Mary Coyel Newmann Brown, Ryan Boothe and wife Lisa, Jillian A. Newmann and Jaime A. Newmann Tiner and husband David, and 5 great grandchildren, Wade, Sophia, Jordan, Grant and Carson (and one on the way) He is also survived by his only sibling, Leona Kneschke, and her daughter Sandra and her children Steven and Amanda, and 2 step sons, Patrick Hern and family and Dennis Hern and family. He also leaves behind many, many loving friends and co-workers.
Lonnie was a devout Christian and attended Ascension Lutheran, then King of Kings Lutheran, and his last church home was Epiphany Lutheran in Pearland, Texas. Through a ministry at Ascension, Lonnie and his wife Cymbeline sponsored a Laotion family's immigration to the United States in the early 1980's and they lived with them several years, and to this day, this family is still in touch with their Papa Lonnie.
The family will be receiving friends and loved ones on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral home from 5 - 8 PM. The funeral will be Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 10 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow.
