

Lora Elizabeth Dement, a cherished resident of Houston, Texas, entered her eternal rest on November 17, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 2, 1937, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and grew up in Delhi, Louisiana, graduating from Tallulah Louisiana High School in 1956.
On February 28, 1959, Lora married the love of her life, William Bruce Dement. They shared 35 beautiful years of marriage before his passing on May 24, 1994.
Lora devoted 21 years of service to the City of Houston as a 911 operator, offering calm, compassion, and dedication to countless individuals in moments of need. Her life was marked by her deep love for Christ and her unwavering devotion to family and friends. She found joy in gardening, bird watching, playing games, crafting, and fellowship with her church family at CT Church.
Lora was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Fatie Tonnang; her brother, Charles Tonnang; and her sister, Sylvia Puckett.
She is survived by her brother, Gilbert Tonnang; sisters, Delane Garrett and Irene Agnew; her son, William Dement Jr., and his wife, Debbie Dement; grandson, William Dement III, and his wife, Erica Dement; granddaughter, Kristen Hart, and her husband, Joshua Hart; and her great-grandchildren, Lily Hart, Oliver Hart, Otto Hart, and Olen Hart. She also leaves behind many treasured nieces and nephews who lovingly enriched her life.
Services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Friday, November 21, 2025, in the Colonial Chapel, public visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Colonial Chapel, with a committal service to follow at 11:00 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
Lora’s legacy of faith, kindness, and love will continue to live on through the generations she so deeply cherished.
