Lorene Mensik, 83 loving wife, mother, grandma, and gigi went to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019. She was a caring and loving person that would do anything and everything for family members and friends. Her legacy will live on through her family. She inspired and encouraged all of her family to always love one another and stay close to each other. She was able to celebrate her annual Christmas Eve gathering at her home that she always hosted surrounded by good food and lots of fun. We all loved her sauerkraut and dressing. She was a great cook. She also loved playing marbles, cards and other games with all of her family members. She was a member of Polka Lovers Klub of America for 18 years. Her love for dancing slowed down when her husband passed on Sept. 19, 2003, but I’m sure she will be dancing in Heaven with him now. When people describe her they always say how sweet and caring she was. The last 10 days of her life were spent in the hospital with heart issues. She had a weak heart and it finally quit beating.
She is preceded in death by her husband C. J. Mensik, parents Peter and Frances Pilat, brother Pete Pilat, and daughter-in-law Laura Mensik. She is survived by her sons, David, Donnie and wife Roseanna, Michael and wife Gail; daughters, Deborah Sorge and husband Robert, and Michele Jankowski and husband Kraig. Also survived by grandchildren Duane and Laurie Mensik and children Dalton, Emily, Weston and Kyle, Dr.’s Daryl and Lollie Mensik and children Brady and Brecklyn, Lauren and Ben Herbst and child Yvonne, Robert, Jr. and Kim Sorge and children Gavin and Nolan, Garrett and Paige Sorge and children Cooper and Ripley, Chelsea Sorge, Jason and Jeniffer Mensik and child Madison, Christy and Jeff Adams and children Colby and Tinley, and Redding and Catcher Jankowski.
