She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Land, and her daughter, Lizabeth Ripley. She is survived by her son, David Land; her granddaughter, Lindsay Ripley (Jose Alaniz); her grandson, Steven (Emily) Ripley; her great-grandchildren, Kathleen and Lucy Ripley; her son-in-law, Ronald (Martha) Ripley; and her brother, George Ritchey.
Mrs. Land graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston in 1956, where she was a member of the Gauchos drill team. She later attended the University of Houston and business school.
Mrs. Land worked at the Veterans Administration and then as an office manager and bookkeeper for Trans-Tec Machine. She later held a similar position for Trinity Pines Conference Center in Trinity, Texas. During her retirement, she volunteered for Autumn Grove, an assisted living facility for Alzheimer's and dementia care in Pearland.
She was a member of Park Place Baptist Church in Houston, where she was a Sunday School teacher. After moving to Pearland, she became a member of New Hope Church. She was a devoted Christian and servant of the Lord.
A loyal friend and family member, she was always a source of support, and she expressed her love and care through her wonderful baking.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Ms. Loretta.
A visitation for Loretta will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 9:00 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 AM.
