

Louella "Sis" Hopkins Rhodes passed away Monday, October 7, 2013. She was preceded in death by husband Charles Lewis Rhodes, father Leonard Everett Hopkins, mother Virgie Crownover Hopkins, and brothers Robert Louis Hopkins and Buddy Gene Hopkins.
Louella Hopkins Rhodes was born March 23, 1933, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Her love of the desert was developed during her preschool years in Hobbs, New Mexico. The next several years of Louella’s life were spent in the Stillwater, Oklahoma area. These years spent under the care of her Aunt Edith and Grandma Crownover were the most fondly remembered years of her childhood. Louella came to the Houston area in 1949 and married Charles Lewis Rhodes in 1951. She spent the remainder of her life in the Fairbanks area of Houston. Throughout her life, Louella loved travel and being surrounded by her family. Her greatest pleasure was the laughter of children.
She is survived by children Joy Nell Rhodes, Jill Lenn White, and Penny Elizabeth Shukri and husband Samir; brothers Leonard Everett Hopkins and Billy Joe Warmack; grandchildren Charles Dewayne White and wife Kimberly, Sam Allen Shukri, Jamal Salem Shukri and wife Stephanie, Rachel Ann Lambert and husband Jarod, and Joseph Robert Shukri; great grandchildren Taylor Shukri, Dore Shukri, Charles Lambert, Jacob Ackley, Elizabeth Shukri, Kassie Powell, John Henry Powell, Madison Powell, Bradley Burns, and Lauren Ackley; great great grandchild Kai Powell; and step grandchildren Jennifer Ackley, Andy Ackley, Keith Ackley, Scott Ackley and wife Erin, Angie Ackley and husband Cody.
Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 a.m. until Noon, Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Waltrip Funeral Directors. Graveside services will follow in Fairbanks Cemetery.
