

Lucinda "Lucy" Provazek was born on September 9, 1941, in Wharton, Texas to Apollo Zepeda and Dora Pineda Flores, and passed away on May 20, 2026. Throughout her life, Lucy was known for her warmth, humor, strong faith, and deep love for people and family.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnny Provazek; her brothers, Jesse Zepeda, Jimmy Lopez, and Johnny Lopez; and her sister, Dorothy Valdez.
She is lovingly survived by her sisters, Juanita Garcia and Aurora Tamayo; her brother, Willie Zepeda; her daughters, Melinda Rios and Cynthia Powell and husband Cliff Powell; her sons, Andrew Provazek and wife Rhonda Provazek, and Michael Joe Provazek; along with 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren spanning 5 generations.
Lucy never met a stranger. She loved being around people, talking with others, and making everyone feel welcome. Her faith in God was the center of her life. She loved her church and enjoyed directing church skits and plays, sewing banners, teaching Sunday school, and praying for others.
She also loved singing, dancing, reading, cooking for her family, and tending to flowers with her "green thumb". Her potato salad, enchiladas, and fried chicken were her favorites among family and friends. Lucy especially loved sitting outside watching the birds and admiring the beauty of the sky.
Lucy's legacy is one of faith, love, laughter, and family, and she will be cherished for generations to come.
Visitation will be held at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd, Houston, TX 77008, on June 5, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077, on June 5, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
