Lucy Fernandez Valdez, 91, peacefully passed away with her family at her side on Sunday, March 4, 2018 in Houston, Texas. She was born April 12, 1926 in Houston, Texas to Jose and Juanita Fernandez. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Juanita Fernandez; her husband, Andrew Valdez, Sr.; daughter, Amalia Urban; siblings, Jorge and Pete Fernandez, Leonor Cruz and Julia Gonzales. She is survived by her sons, Andrew Valdez, Jr. and Arthur A. Valdez; grandchildren, Andrew Valdez, III, Carolyn Gomez, Belinda Pesina and husband Jesse, Rebecca Frausto and husband Samuel, Christopher Valdez, Jennifer King, Matthew Sudduth and wife Deborah; great- grandchildren, Melissa Taylor and husband Josh, Pamela Valdez, Estella Pesina, Jesse Pesina, Jr., Jessica Pesina, Serena Valdez, Angelica Valdez, Jacob Valdez, Laila Valdez, Maddox Valdez, Trinity Gomez, Alyssa Frausto, Helio Frausto and Owen Sudduth; great-great grandchildren, Sarah Taylor and Sofia Rodriguez; sisters, Virginia Hernandez, Sophia Flores and husband Kino and Inez Vasquez; son-in-law, Mark Urban and a host of nieces, nephew’s relatives and friends and her 2 pets, Michie and Bella Valdez. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 5-9 PM with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church 9217 E. Ave L Houston, TX. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
