Luther McArthur Batey

He was born in Houston, Texas on July 21, 1929, to Luther H Batey and Ardella Windsor Batey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Bernice Barbara Pawlak Batey, one daughter, Jeanette Lynn Batey Idom and one grandchild, John David Miller. Brother Clarence Jack Batey and Wilma Irene Posuk Kindstrand.

Luther had a lifelong career as a machinist and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 70 years. He loved sitting on his porch, rooting for the Astros and watching westerns.

He was survived by his children, David Wayne Batey, Judy Batey Miller and husband, Bob. Janie Batey Miles and husband Jim. He had six surviving grandsons, Lance Miles, and wife Stephanie; Patrick Miles and wife Kellie; Cody Miles; Robert Miller and wife Candice; Danny Miller and wife Patricia; David Miller. He leaves behind five great grandchildren, Brianna Miles, Rayln Miles, Marissa Miles, Addisyn Miller, and Robert Bodey Miller. He had one surviving brother-in-law, Edward Pawlak, and sister-in-law Karen Darcy, along with many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He left with lifelong memories of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation or St. Jude’s.

A visitation for Luther will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 9, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A committal service will occur Friday, February 9, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.

Family and friends are invited to join the family for a reception following services at Windrose Clubhouse 5730 Pinelakes Blvd., Spring, TX 77379.
