

Sis. Mable Ernestine Mason was called home by the Lord on November 26, 2020. She was born March 21, 1945, to the union of Ernest Douglas Mason and Mable Myrtle Mason. She was the second born child amongst her three brothers and spent her childhood days in the Houston Heights area. Sis. Ernestine grew in wisdom and distinct stature at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where she was baptized and grew in love with the Lord.
She received her education from Regan High school where she graduated and later attend Houston Baptist University where she studied Theology. It is there that she continued to learn and grow in the word of God. Sis. Ernestine joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained faithful until the Lord called her home.
As a devoted member, Sis. Ernestine was always very active in her church. She served in many capacities: youth choir, young adult choir, young women’s association, Sunday School Teacher, Sisters in the Spirit, the Seasoned Saints, Missions 1, 2, and 3, the National Baptist Convention of America Inc and the list goes on. She served faithfully under the anointed leadership of Reverend Walker, Dr. S. J. Gilbert, Sr. and Dr. S. J. Gilbert II.
Sis. Ernestine and her mother owned one of three beauty salons in the Heights area of Houston. Their business was very successful and while doing hair she shared words of wisdom and the Word of God.
Although biological children weren’t part of God’s great plan for her life, she was the caretaker, Surrogate mother, aunt, babysitter, and loving Godmother to many loved ones.
She is joined in her heavenly home with her mother Mable and father Ernest Mason, brothers Ernest Bubba Mason, Bobby Baker, Arthur Thomas (wife Vallorie) Mason, She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews Barbara, Arthur, Rodney (Lakesha), Shay, Jaceri, Darius, Briannah, Kaile’Anna, Bryson, and Khole as well as long time friends Karen Woodard, Mary Bruce and many many more.
Sis. Ernestine always had a kind and encouraging word from the holy spirit to share with those around her and would assist in any way that she could. She will be dearly missed.
