

On September 20,1905, a baby girl was born to Cornelius and Ella (Calhoun) King in Gueydon, Louisiana, the youngest girl of seven children. In 1918, her parents moved to Houston, Texas where she attended Old Colored High School. After moving to Houston, she united with St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend S. A. Pleasant. She later moved her membership to Mt. Zion. Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Blaylock. After a time, she united with Trinity Gardens First Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. P. L. Williams, where she remained a faithful member until her health failed under the leadership of the current Pastor, Reverend R. C. McClean. She was also a long-time member of the Order of Easter Star. Mother Hines was preceded in death by both parents, all of her siblings, one son, one grandson, and one great-grandson. On April 7, 2012 5:50 AM, Mother Hines was granted her angel wings. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Ellamaye McCall and Mercedes Arline, both of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; thirteen great- great grandchildren; nephews, nieces, other relatives,friends, and her church family. The visitation will be Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. to 10:55 A.M. The funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. Both services will be held at Trinity Gardens First Baptist Church, 6610 Wileyvale St., Houston, TX 77028. Pastor R.C. McClean, officiating. Rev. Paul McCall, eulogy. The Interment will be held at Golden Gate Cemetery.
