December 28, 1929 – November 29, 2018
On Thursday November 29, 2018, Manuel Contreras passed away at the age of 88. He was born December 28, 1929. He resided in Houston Texas for 80 years and his last home in San Antonio Texas for 8 years. He served in the U.S Army as Sargent First Class – 1951 Korean War.
Our daddy was a very proud, strong, caring and fun father. Although he always worked hard at Maxwell House, he always took the time to have a weekend of cookouts, going to the beach, traveling near and far to see and meet family and to see the world. Family was always first.
He loved his darling wife deeply, their love was inseparable. They were like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers on the dance floor and everyone stopped and were envious. The love they shared for each other will still be the same in her heart and mind.
We will always keep in our hearts all the wonderful times we shared with him and will carry on his legacies and who he made us to be. Our daddy will be greatly missed but most definitely not forgotten.
Our father is proceeded in death by his mother Theodora Perez, father Dionicio Contreras, Brother’s Tony, Johnny Contreras, Sister’s Irene Seaman and Sara Cerda, daughters Veronica, Juanita, and great granddaughter Abigail. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret Contreras, Manuel Jr., Marylou Martinez, Raymond, Paul, Michael, Anna Coronado, Maggie, 20 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Sister’s Eliza Deleon, Helen Bocanegra, Brothers’s David and Roy Contreras.
Funeral Services are being held at Forest Park Lawndale Home 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, Tx. 77023 Services: Viewing will be on the Thursday 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Memorial: Friday 10:00 am – 10:45 am.

Out thoughts and prayers are with Manuel's family. We have fond memories of Manuel and his family as we lived in Magnolia Park on the same street of Ave. J in Houston, Texas for many years. Our parents were very close and also "compadres". Actually, we all grew up in the hood. My parents were Lorenzo & Luz Dominguez.

My grandfather was the strongest man I know. He served his country, he loved grandma wholeheartedly and shared so much wisdom to many. I will always miss our outings together as a child and how my grandmother was always by his side no matter what. He had such a contagious smile and outgoing personality. I will always love you grandpa
