Marchetta "Kitty" Jean Cox, 89, entered into eternal rest on November 16, 2017 and joined those who preceded her in death: husband, Thomas Calvin Cox & son, Michael Cox. Kitty loved family and her dog Molly. She was also an avid and accomplished golfer, having made 8 holes in one. Through golf she made many lasting relationships over the years. She embodied the grit and determination of "the greatest generation" in everything she did. Kitty was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and moved to Houston as a child. After high school, she enjoyed a long and distinguished career at Southwestern Bell, and was one of just a few females in supervision when she retired in 1986.
After retirement, she enjoyed golf with her beloved Calvin and daughters, Mary Ann and Judy. She also enjoyed and attended many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren's youth sport activities. When Calvin suffered a massive stroke in 2002, she cared for him for 10 years until his death in 2012. Kitty will be remembered for all of these things and how she made us all laugh with her "Kittyisms". So, gee willikers Kitty, you lived a long and fulfilling life and were a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. We will miss you dearly. Rest in peace and may God bless your soul.
Her memory will be cherished by her daughters: Mary Ann Svoboda & husband Alan, Judy McGoldrick & husband Joe; grandchildren: Tommy Auffarber & wife Emily, Jason McGoldrick & wife Lucy, David McGoldrick & wife Kenzie, Eric Woolsey, Cody Svoboda, Scotty Svoboda & Haley Lee; great-grandchildren: Carolina, Lyndon & Layne Auffarber & Alice Svoboda.
The family will gather at Forest Park Lawndale for a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made to: Bay Area Pet Adoptions, San Leon, Tx. (http://www.bayareapetadoptions.org/donate.html).
